Exploring the Collage City

An Exhibition of Photography

“Lunch in the Borough” by Armando Martinez

Martinez’s photography exposes the sublime in the everyday lives of his subjects, a cross-section of urban dwellers who represent the heterogeneity of cities. Cordon’s work abstracts the image of the city, both reducing it to impressions and revealing the accidental collisions of texture and intention which exist in cities at every scale. Martinez exposes us to urban life; Cordon, to the marks this life leaves behind.

This exhibition draws its questions from the urban theories of Colin Rowe and Fred Koetter. While Martinez and Cordon set the stage, the exhibition will continue with three more shows through the end of June, 2017.

First Friday Art Walk: Friday, February 3, from 6pm–9pm, with artist interview/improv at 8pm. (Free)

Join us for tea and conversation with our featured artists. Then, from 8pm–8:20pm enjoy “Denver, Let’s Talk Art,” with comedian and storyteller Andrew Curtis Forlines. The featured artists will be interviewed, along with a host of characters played by some of Denver’s finest actor and improvisors.

Art Salon, Tue. 7th March, 7pm: The Collage City.
(Limited seating; must reserve ticket)

Our salons are an opportunity to enjoy art in an intimate setting, along with talks and discussion. They’re learning opportunities, but also chances for all attendees to share their ideas, thoughts, and experiences. Most importantly, we’re there to talk about the art, and art’s importance in the world today.

Join us for an evening of discussion about art and the city! Denver’s own Kaladi Coffee will supply the fuel for our conversations. More information and tickets here.
